What We Do

Research.
Mitigate.
Educate.

Dr. Taylor provides community impact research that underscores the broader social, historical, and psychological context of a case. This research considers regional and local effects that shape an individual’s opportunities and challenges, as well as the biological and psychological impact of traumatic experiences.

Because every case is unique, topics of research vary and are carefully tailored to meet the client’s needs. Our goal is to identify the experts necessary to support the defense, and help the client and their family effectively tell their story in court.

With over 19 years of experience, Dr. Taylor is skilled in conducting thorough investigations, coordinating and developing the analysis of evidence, identifying experts, locating witnesses, preparing compelling pre-trial packets and reports, and delivering strong testimony, leading to highly successful and well-regarded outcomes.

Communications Studies examines the patterns of verbal and non-verbal communication in interpersonal interactions across cultures. These patterns often aim to provide information, persuade, express identity, and share emotional sentiments. As a social science, this field utilizes empirical and critical analysis to investigate these patterns and generate valuable sociolegal insights.

Led by a communications expert with advanced degrees in the field, Taylor Advocacy Pros uncover the complex ways that communication shapes individual experiences and sociolegal dynamics—insights that can be crucial for developing compelling, context-rich testimony.

Dr. Taylor also plays an active role teaching Continuing Legal Education, as well as providing education and training to individuals who seek to enhance their competencies in mitigation and advocacy.

With a passion for elevating the defense community, Dr. Taylor has been invited to participate as a Continuing Legal Education lecturer 29 times for state and national organizations. These include:

  • The National Association of Public Defenders
  • Black Public Defenders
  • The Clarence Darrow/David Baldus Death Penalty & Intellectual Disability Track
  • The Texas Criminal Defense Association

Through these presentations, Dr. Taylor draws on individual and coauthored research that has been recognized as outstanding scholarship— a 2020 coauthored piece on women of color, sexual harassment, and intersectionality was recognized by the Western Journal of Communication as one of the three most important articles on race in communication studies in the past 20 years.
